2.9   Look for, look for, look for Friends

While Ou Yu and Mu Rou were in the process of resolving their misunderstanding from years ago, Feng Qi who’d taken Hao Ritian for a walk to aid digestion, kept asking Hao Ritian question after question until he thought he would go crazy.

The back of the private restaurant was actually quite spacious. It had a large courtyard with rockery and flowing water, and the landscape was picturesque. It looked like a small scenic spot. As Feng Qi and Hao Ritian were strolling around, they ended up here. It was very obvious that Feng Qi had a personal friendship with the boss of the private restaurant, otherwise he wouldn’t have been permitted to enter this private site.

Hao Ritian would still have found it acceptable if it were only this. However, for whatever reason, Feng Qi’s wild, dominant, assertive character setting had collapsed a bit.

God knew that in his short interactions with Feng Qi before, he really thought Feng Qi belonged to the strong, quiet, and didn’t allow any refusal type. Now, Feng Qi was still strong and didn’t allow refusal, but he was not at all quiet. He couldn't stop talking about the little things that were of no importance.

For instance, he was always asking him what he liked, how his relationship with his classmates at school was, and what was he majoring in, so on and so forth—questions that were completely discrepant with his character setting. Was he truly placing himself in the role of an uncle and caring for him?

Hao Ritian made a big eye roll in his mind. Spare me!

“Hm? Why don’t you say anything?” Feng Qi looked at the lowered head in front of him, and pretended to be annoyed, “You have to look up when someone’s talking to you. This is manners, understand?”

As he spoke, he simultaneously clasped Hao Ritian’s lowered head to lift it up, and thereafter saw an aggrieved, weepy face with round and seemingly watery eyes.

Feng Qi, “…”

God, how can he be so cute? He’s a little blown away from how adorable he is, damn it!

Feng Qi coughed twice and put on a stern face, forcing his expression to become serious, “…No matter, you can learn gradually and Uncle will help you, okay?”

If one looked carefully, they would find that the back of his ears seemed a little red. Few people knew that the cold, hard, and domineering-looking, Great Inspector Feng, was actually very fond of small animals, especially small, soft animals with big, round eyes.

Alright, now there was one right before his eyes. His heart was itchy as if it had been squeezed. He wanted to carry him home.

If it had truly been the original Mu Ziwen, he wouldn’t have noticed anything, and would have merely been nervous. However, Hao Ritian’s observation skills were much more meticulous and he soon caught on to Feng Qi’s peculiarity. He was, inwardly, both surprised and amused, but soon got an idea.

According to the present progress, it seemed there was basically nothing he needed to do in this world, compared to the previous one. With Ou Yu and Mu Rou charging ahead and Feng Qi providing assistance on the side, completing the mission couldn’t be easier. After all, he knew the plot. What Mu Ziwen encountered was a devastating blow, but when he, by some stroke of luck, met Feng Qi, the plot took a huge turn.

Mu Ziwen never met his biological father until he died. Now, he had met him. Mu Rou never saw Ou Yu again until she died, and the misunderstanding thus, had no way to be resolved. Now, the two were reunited, and Hao Ritian reckoned they would reconcile sooner or later.

Once everything was sorted, how difficult would it be to dispose of that brat, Ou Siyang?

Oh, he also had to see if Ou Siyang’s parents had a part in this to immediately determine his following response.

One could say that his and Feng Qi’s simple collision had directly and fundamentally reversed the trajectory of Mu Rou and her son’s fate, and as for the rest, he just had to sit back and harvest the final fruits of victory.

However, the system added a task for him. Any time the original owner he transmigrated into suffered a mental illness, he had to think of a way to cure ‘himself’. And since the mainline task no longer had any issues, the rest of this mission should consist of transforming himself from someone with autism to a normal person.

An idea on how to make a recovery as a person with autism came to him in a sudden strike of inspiration. The best method was to have a person, with a different kind of importance and significance, occupy an unprecedented position in his heart, and through some stimulation, lead him to gradually come out of the circle he had confined himself to.

Wasn’t affection a good option?

Feng Qi had not only saved him but even had sex with him. Moreover, he was a rather excellent man. Even Hao Ritian, with his pickiness, thought Feng Qi was pretty good and on par with Wei Ziwen from the previous world. Since that was the case—

Rescued in a moment of desperation and learning the taste of desire, a strapping and handsome man came knocking on the door of Mu Ziwen’s heart. Wasn’t it only expected that feelings of attachment and adoration were hereby evoked?

The root cause of Mu Ziwen becoming autistic as a child was the ostracism and insults he suffered from others for not having a father. It was natural for such a child to harbour yearning deep inside his heart for a strong, leading male figure in his life, and Feng Qi could play that important role, at just the right time. It was practically too fitting for Hao Ritian. It was like Feng Qi had been specially designed for him.

With his way of thinking changed, Hao Ritian’s attitude when he faced Feng Qi, naturally, had to be subtly adjusted. At present, Feng Qi was exceptionally fond of him, so they would start with attachment.

His big eyes twinkling, Hao Ritian blushed a little, “…Okay.”

Not expecting Hao Ritian to respond to him, especially head-on with his big, twinkling eyes, Feng Qi instantly felt several feet taller, his image all at once grand as he shouldered responsibility for this boy.

Coughing twice with his fist against his lips, he suppressed his urge to hold the boy and rub him. He warned himself to take it slow and never frighten him, or make him feel too fearful and nervous, or else, what would he do if the boy didn't listen to him?

After mulling it over, Feng Qi judged, with great difficulty, an appropriate balance. He planned to say a couple words of praise first—after all, he had to instill in the boy an awareness that he would be commended if he did as he was told. However, who would’ve thought he would be interrupted by an intruder before he got the chance to speak. His brows pinching, he promptly looked over with a look of displeasure.

It was immensely terrifying when he was displeased. His imposing manner could make the majority of people keep mum, but it failed to do so this time.

“Big Brother Feng?” The intruder’s face brightened on seeing Feng Qi, “Big Brother Feng, it’s really you! What are you doing here?”

He immediately jogged over and noticed Hao Ritian standing together with Feng Qi. He asked with surprise, “Who’s this?”

Feng Qi’s face instantly sank, “Qi An, where are your manners?”

The young man who had still been jumping up and down till just moments ago, immediately straightened his back after Feng Qi’s face sank. With both his hands pressed against the seams of his trousers and his chest out, he raised his head and reflexively apologised, “I’m sorry, Big Brother Feng, I was wrong.”

While Feng Qi was lecturing him, Hao Ritian used the time to unobtrusively give Qi An a once-over. He looked more or less the same size as Mu Ziwen and was pleasing to the eye, but his eyes were overly alert. He obviously had a restless temperament, but Hao Ritian’s senses told him that he was passable as, despite the alertness in his eyes, they were very clean. Hao Ritian concluded that he must be a very favored child at home.

Qi An also proved himself true to Hao Ritian’s evaluation. Even though he was still apologising, his eyes continued to circle around and glance at Hao Ritian constantly, his curiosity written all over his face.

However, Feng Qi had no intention of introducing them to each other. He pressed his brows and asked, “What are you doing running wildly here?”

Although he was talking to Qi An, Feng Qi didn’t ignore Hao Ritian and, on the contrary, stood quite close to him. His stance appeared as though he was placing Hao Ritian within his own protective space. At such a close distance, Hao Ritian could smell the faint, reassuring scent of tobacco on him.

Qi An wore a vexed expression when Feng Qi questioned him and sighed miserably, “It’s that crazy girl, Yan Zi. I came to eat lunch with my friends, but when she found out I was here, she kept chasing me. I could only resort to hiding here. So damn annoying.”

Yan Zi’s full name was Hao Yan and she was Qi An’s childhood friend. She had always liked to cling to Qi An since she was young, and now that she had made a declaration to marry Qi An, Qi An’s livers would tremble from fear whenever he ran into her.

Hao Ritian’s pitiful look could make Feng Qi’s heart go soft, but when it came to Qi An, he received no such treatment. Feng Qi did not sympathise with him whatsoever, “Shameful. If it’s nothing important, go back soon.”

Qi An shilly-shallied, evidently unwilling. What if that crazy girl hasn’t left yet?

He immediately thought of a plan involving Hao Ritian. Eyes bright, he extended a hand towards Hao Ritian and struck up a conversation, “Hi, let me introduce myself. I’m Qi An. I’m a sophomore at Imperial University, majoring in performing arts, what about you?”

Hao Ritian didn’t respond but shuffled his feet a little, hiding most of his body behind Feng Qi.

Qin An wrinkled his nose. Am I being despised?

Feng Qi, on the other hand, was absolutely delighted by Hao Ritian’s conscious act of seeking shelter from him, and even his feelings of impatience in the wake of Qi An’s intrusion eased considerably. At first, he wanted to use this opportunity to drive Qi An away, but all of a sudden, he stopped. After a moment of struggle, he quite uncharacteristically introduced Hao Ritian to Qi An.

Placing his hand over Hao Ritian’s shoulder, Feng Qi said to Qi An, “This is Mu Ziwen. He’s a sophomore attending Imperial University just like you, but majors in computer science. He’s rather introverted and doesn’t like talking to people much. You can hang out with him at school and take care of him.”

His ‘take care of my family’s child’ attitude nearly made Qi An’s jaw drop open in fright.

Meanwhile, Hao Ritian was cracking up inside, thinking that Feng Qi’s disposition was indescribably cute. His initial impression of him was almost wiped clean.

Actually, Feng Qi was really struggling in his heart. Since he had decided to take the boy under his wing and look after him, he started to feel a sense of responsibility towards him. For the time being, he didn’t want to identify the reason for this sense of responsibility. In his opinion, the matter of most importance was first making the boy come out of his shell; any other problem could be postponed.

He already planned to research even more carefully on what would be effective against autism, and was confident he could make the boy recover. However, he realised something after Qin An enthusiastically struck a conversation with Hao Ritian; the boy was still in college and there would, inevitably, be places he couldn’t keep an eye at. Moreover, Qin An and the boy’s sharply opposing personalities might just influence him and spur him on.

With his understanding of Qin An, the boy’s emotions, to some extent, should assuredly stir under his enthusiasm and chatterbox attack. Therefore, in spite of his reluctance for others to enjoy a higher position than him in the boy’s heart, he nevertheless compromised considering Qin An’s artless personality, which barely managed to reach the standard requirement in the aspect of being the boy’s friend.

How could his child not have friends?!

Qin An swiftly blanked his expression before Feng Qi swept his annoyed gaze over him, and sent Hao Ritian a look of admiration. It’s so fucking awesome how he can get Big Brother Feng to look out for him so much!

“No problem, I’ll certainly take care of Ziwen.” Qin An had never lost when it came to the art of pole-climbing. Look, he had just learned Mu Ziwen’s name and was already calling out ‘Ziwen’, ‘Ziwen’.

The sound of Qin An saying ‘Ziwen’ made Feng Qi want to frown, and he inwardly clicked his tongue. Why had he suddenly become so motherly? He was feeling a bit unpleasant simply from hearing another person use the same address he used to call the boy.

Decision made. From now on, he would call the boy ‘Wenwen’. At the thought, his frame of mind instantly relaxed. That’s what I’ll do.
