2.3   Ou Yu

Feng Qi carefully observed the reaction of the young man sitting next to him as he finished asking. The young man didn’t give any indication of responding but his eyes revealed a blankness that couldn’t be more obvious. Clearly, he himself wasn’t clear about the situation.

“I want to go back.” Hao Ritian ducked his head and played with his fingers displaying a look of avoidance. Even his voice was as soft as a mosquito.

Feng Qi shook his head and didn't plan to pursue it any longer. From what he had observed, he wouldn’t be getting any useful information by continuing. Originally, he was merely an irrelevant person. The two of them had gotten involved only because of Hao Ritian’s looks and then accidentally having physical relations. In this case, helping him investigate this unexpected incident could only act as compensation.

As for the results of the investigation, he felt it was more reasonable and efficient to talk with the youth’s parents.

Thinking of this, Feng Qi stood up and said lightly, “Let’s go. I’ll send you back.”

Hao Ritian stood up on his heels. Though his eyes were hanging down, he still plucked up courage to refuse, “I can…”

He was decisively cut off before he could finish, “I’ll send you back, or you can wait here for your family to come pick you up!”

His tone allowed for absolutely no refusal.

Hao Ritian silently chose the first option, but was secretly surprised. It looked like this man was more powerful than he thought. He was definitely used to standing in the position of a superior and bossing people around. However, it wasn’t that surprising considering his identity.

In terms of Hao Ritian’s own character, he appreciated men like that, such as Wei Zhichen from the first world and Feng Qi in front of him. In his opinion, only those who are strong by their own means had the qualifications and courage to live happily. As for the feelings of people unrelated to him, he didn’t find it necessary to mind them.

Unfortunately, he was currently Mu Ziwen, a college student with autism. If he wasn’t more cautious in front of the senior inspector and got seen through, the loss wouldn’t be worth the gain.

Hao Ritian, who steadfastly maintained a cautious heart in front of Feng Qi, was brought home. Mu Ziwen and Mu Rou lived in an apartment near the Imperial University. The housing price was very high. Even the rent was a tremendous expense. Luckily, Mu Rou had very strong capabilities and saved up a lot in recent years. So, the burden wasn’t a problem.

Sitting in the passenger seat, Hao Ritian finally remembered to call Mu Rou to tell her he was safe. He had to borrow Feng Qi’s phone, struggled and hesitated for a long time before asking for it. As for his own phone, he didn’t know where it had disappeared off to.

Almost instantly after the phone connected, emotions of anxiety, concern and so on interwoven together in Mu Rou’s enquiry, transmitted from the receiver. However, she still tried to control her tone, trying as much as possible to not convey those emotions to her son.

Hao Ritian listened to the questions and concerns coming from the receiver and was unconsciously stunned.

For him, he hadn’t felt this sort of pure concern that simply came from the bottom of someone’s heart, for a very long time. It was also because of that, that he didn’t immediately call Mu Rou. Because knowing about it and personality experiencing it was two completely different concepts.  He had no way of understanding Mu Rou’s anxiety when her son went missing.

Although Mu Ziwen lived in the dorms due to Mu Rou’s request, Mu Ziwen would stay home on the weekends. He had no friends and didn’t like to go outside to play. During the holidays, unless Mu Rou took him out, he would stay nestled at home by himself.

However, yesterday happened to be Friday and normally Mu Ziwen would go home after his final class was over. But he didn’t show up the whole night. Mu Rou knew her son was well-behaved and there was no way he wouldn’t go home without saying a word, so she judged that something had happened to him. But she couldn’t even file a missing person report before 24 hours had passed. Mu Rou’s panic could be well imagined.

Hence, it was no exaggeration to say, this phone call was a salvation to her.

Listening to the voice from the phone receiver, Hao Ritian’s eyelids drooped down. The other person was concerned about her son, Mu Ziwen and currently he was Mu Ziwen. So—

“I’m alright. I’m on my way home. I’ll be there very soon.” He turned his body to the side and answered in a moderate volume.

After gaining his response, Mu Rou repeatedly replied that she was waiting for him at home, to pay attention to safety and to not be anxious etc. After a series of warnings, Hao Ritian listened with a spaced out look on his face until the other party realized she was talking too much. At last, she said something to appease him then hung up the phone.

Hao Ritian heard the beeping sounds from the phone, and his right hand’s grip on the phone tightened. When the car turned on a bend, he handed the phone to Feng Qi and thanked him in a low voice, “Thank you!”

In fact, talking to an outsider on their own initiative took great courage for someone with autism. Only, in Feng Qi’s eyes at the moment, Hao Ritian was just an introverted young man who wasn’t adept at communication and was also cautious with him since they had sex.

No matter how keen he was, he couldn’t possibly detect that the other person was autistic within such a short frame of contact. Not to mention Hao Ritian’s bold and passionate response when they had sex last night. Even if he racked his brains out until it broke, he wouldn’t think someone with autism could be so ‘wild’.

Receiving his phone, Feng Qi noticed from the corner of his eye, Hao Ritian’s seemingly incessant posture of shrinking himself into a shell to avoid others. He blared the horn and when Hao Ritian reflexively straightened up from the abrupt sound, he said to him, “Speak a little louder. Do you think I’m going to eat you?”

He suddenly cracked up for a brief moment when he said that. Actually, saying that really wasn’t good. Hadn’t he eaten him up last night? No matter what the reason was, the result couldn’t be changed.

Despite the chiding and teasing tone the man had used while speaking, the atmosphere between the two before they reached their destination remained quiet. At least, Hao Ritian couldn’t speak on his own initiative.

Once they arrived at the community where Mu Rou, the two mother and son duo, lived, Hao Ritian wanted to let Feng Qi go. After all, Feng Qi was an unanticipated and certainly complicated character. At present, he didn’t want to get too involved with Feng Qi.

But he didn’t know what Feng Qi was thinking. Not only did he not leave, he even said he had something to discuss with Mu Rou.

Was he going to actively inform Mu Rou of what had happened to him?

He didn’t think that was a bad idea. After all, he was autistic. Even though such a thing happened to him, he wouldn’t mention it on his own, but it would be none of his business if Feng Qi were to mention it. Plus, he knew Mu Ziwen’s biological father had always been looking for Mu Rou and it was thanks to a misunderstanding between them that brought about so many years of separation. Mu Ziwen’s father didn’t even know of his existence.

Most importantly, the reason something like this happened to Mu Ziwen had an indirect relation to his biological father. Maybe, if Feng Qi talked about the sudden incident that befell Mu Ziwen, it would instead lead Mu Rou to consider contacting that man again. That way, wouldn’t she hold the dominant position?

His thoughts went through a lot of twists and turns inside his head, but on the surface, Hao Ritian still donned an ‘unrefusing’ appearance. He had clearly returned home, but it looked like it was Feng Qi who was instead the owner. Their positions were a tad reversed.

“Ziwen?” The moment Mu Rou who was waiting downstairs sighted Hao Ritian, she jogged over to him and repeatedly checked him everywhere with her hands. After confirming there was nothing wrong with him, she held him in her arms and said with excitement, “Thank goodness you’re alright. You nearly scared mommy to death. You bad child, where did you run off to last night? You didn’t know to give mommy a call to tell me you’re safe either. Do you want mommy to die from anger?”

As she spoke, she pat Hao Ritian’s back over and over with her hand held high, but they would always land very gently. She was simply bluffing. In any case, Hao Ritian didn’t feel much pain, that amount of strength wasn’t even enough to tickle him.

He just stiffly allowed Mu Rou to hug him. Her soft body which was completely different from a man’s as well as her grumbling was both strange and distant for him. He had no idea how to respond.

Feng Qi watched the scene of the mother and son’s reunion from the side. His eyes passed over Mu Rou and Hao Ritian’s face and a trace of understanding and interest from getting his guess confirmed rose in his eyes. He didn’t expect it would really be this coincidental.

“Ms. Mu.” If he didn’t speak up, he didn’t know how long the duo would continue hugging.

Mu Rou let go of Hao Ritian upon hearing him, and transferred a portion of her attention to Feng Qi. After all, she just saw her son come home safe and sound, and didn’t have the mood to notice anyone else. Now that her emotions had more or less been vented, she also recovered her calmness and rationality.

“Thank you so much, sir, for sending my son back. Sir, how should I address you?” She knew with just a simple glance that the man in front of her had something to do with her son’s return. Otherwise, this sort of lofty and out-of-the-ordinary looking man wouldn’t stay here delaying his own time. She was grateful to him in her heart for helping her son out.

“Feng Qi. I’d like to talk to Ms. Mu, what do you say?” At the same time, his eyes glanced over at Hao Ritian, though his expression carried some indifference.

Mu Rou didn’t have any reason to refuse, moreover she didn’t want to. She was eager to know what had happened to her son yesterday. The other party actively staying behind suited her desires.

“Mr. Feng is being polite. Mr. Feng had sent my son home, I just don’t know how to thank you. Please!”

After letting him in, Mu Rou had Hao Ritian return to his room to rest. Quite obviously, she didn’t intend to let her son listen in on the following conversation, regardless of what it was about. Hao Ritian, no matter whether as an obedient, well-behaved son, or a patient with autism who didn’t want to stay together with a stranger with as powerful a presence as Feng Qi, could only choose to listen to Mu Rou and go to his room.

However, he had the system with him; wanting to know the details of the conversation in the living room was a piece of cake for him. It happened that he wanted to know what purpose Feng Qi had for coming back with him. He became special to Feng Qi because they slept together, you might say?

What a joke. Hao Ritian had confidence but not groundless narcissism.

Once her son returned to his room, Mu Rou, under the premise of not losing her manners, looked at Feng Qi with some intensity and asked, “Mr. Feng, please excuse my boldness, I would like to know what had happened to my son yesterday and why you would personally send him back?”

As a woman who was single-handedly raising her son, Mu Rou was not a weak little woman, despite her beautiful appearance. Though she was now forty-five, she didn’t lose out to women in their thirties. But what was more head-turning than her looks was her personality. There was a noticeable resoluteness and courage within her sweet temper, and in her eyes that brimmed with intelligence shone reservedness. She was an utterly charming woman.

They say ‘Mothers are strong’ and Mu Rou definitely fit the shoe. When it came to any topic related to her son, she would throw in 200% out of a hundred of her attention. Not to mention, her son’s special situation caused her to not be the slightest bit relaxed.

Feng Qi very much appreciated Mu Rou’s personality, and didn’t mind answering her questions. But before answering them—

“I want to know, what relationship do you have with Ou Yu?” There was a change in his tone and he answered the question with a question.

Mu Rou’s face stiffened. A trace of panic flitted past her eyes which were originally staring at Feng Qi brightly. Although she quickly composed herself, it was caught by Feng Qi.

Hao Ritian, who was waiting in the bedroom, froze. His expression became delicate. Ou Yu. Isn’t he Mu Ziwen’s biological father?!

He had been thinking of borrowing Feng Qi’s hand to give a push, but didn’t expect a surprise to be waiting for him. Feng Qi and Ou Yu actually knew each other. The questions he couldn’t figure out before was now easily solved—last night, Feng Qi who originally wasn’t planning to deal with him, unexpectedly brought him out of ‘Wei Hai’. Now, it seemed that he had basked in Ou Yu’s light.

After all, Mu Ziwen’s appearance bore five points of similarity with Ou Yu. It was more abnormal for people who knew Ou Yu to not have any suspicions when seeing his face. The corner of his lips involuntarily lifted. This was getting more and more fun.

It was like someone presenting a pillow just when you’re drowsy. Bringing Feng Qi wasn’t a loss at all. He was so gosh darn clever!
